Non-working mothers / single fathers are eligible for a monthly Basic Subsidy of $150. To better support non-working subsidy applicants, ECDA provides higher subsidy on a time-limited basis to mothers / single fathers who are unable to work due to valid reasons under the Special Approval such as:

• Looking for a job

• Studying / Training / On course (for at least 56 hours a month)

•Pregnancy

• Medically unfit for work due to hospitalisation, long-term illness and/or permanent disability

• Taking care of sick or special needs family member

• Caring full-time for a sibling aged 24 months and below

• Incarcerated

Families with household income of $6,000 and below (or per capita income of $1,500 and below) can qualify for higher subsidy i.e. Basic Subsidy of $300 and means-tested Additional Subsidy regardless of working status. The Additional Subsidy amount will be assessed based on the family’s household income at the point of subsidy application.

All families on ComCare assistance or residing in public rental flats will also automatically qualify for maximum childcare subsidies regardless of the subsidy applicant’s working status.
