What is the difference between the Public Service Commission Scholarship (Teaching Service) [PSC(T)] and the other teaching scholarships and awards offered by MOE?
The main difference is that the PSC(T) is administered by the Public Service Commission (PSC) while the other teaching scholarships and awards are administered by MOE. PSC(T) scholars can also look forward to a career that will include policy formulation and leadership roles in the Education Service and wider Civil Service.
If you are a PSC(T) scholar, you will automatically be placed on the General Phase of the Public Service Leadership Programme (PSLP). As an Education Officer on the PSLP General Phase, upon graduating from university, you will go through the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme at the National Institute of Education (NIE), and then serve about 5 years in schools and MOE HQ, with MOE as your parent Ministry. This will be followed by a posting to another ministry for 2 years to broaden your exposure beyond the education service before you return to MOE.
