Why is Humanities (Social Studies, Elective) compulsory when my child is already taking one other humanities subject?
Social Studies is the compulsory component for the subject Humanities (Social Studies, Elective) because it equips students with knowledge, skills and values for active citizenship through discussions on contemporary societal issues. The elective component introduces students to at least one humanities subject such as History, Geography or Literature, to ensure students obtain a more holistic education.
Students who have the passion for the humanities can opt to take an additional humanities subject besides Humanities (Social Studies, Elective).
