The renewal frequency depends on industry experience:

If they have worked in the respective industries forThey must pass the safety orientation course
6 years or less Once every 2 years
More than 6 years Once every 4 years

Years of experience are calculated based on active employment period only, excluding home leave.

For example, Work Permit holder ABC has been working in Singapore’s construction industry for the past 6 years. He went on home leave twice (totalling 4 months). This means that he has only 5 years 8 months of active employment to date.
