If the property is under joint tenancy, the person's share in the flat will be transferred to the remaining owner(s). For HDB, the owner(s) can retain the existing flat provided that they:

  • are a Singapore Citizen (SC) or Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR)

  • are at least 21 years old; and

  • satisfy HDB's eligibility rules and conditions to own a flat.

You can refer to the following page on HDB https://www.hdb.gov.sg/residential/living-in-an-hdb-flat/changing-owners-occupiers/retain-flat-following-life-events under the title "Demise of joint owner" for more information.
