Who can be a Wali to the bride?

Listed in the proper hierarchy, a Wali can be the bride's biological father, or male relatives from her father's side, e.g. grandfather, brother, uncle or any male relative. If there is none available, then the Kadi will assume the role as a Wali. Generally, a Wali must be : � A Muslim � In good health physically and mentally � Have attained the age of puberty.
