Can we choose not to enroll in GEP even if my child has scored well for GEP screening?
Yes, it is absolutely permissible. Even if a child qualifies for GEP through both the screening and selection tests, accepting the placement is entirely voluntary.
Parents and students can decline the offer after considering their personal circumstances, such as:
The child's readiness for a more challenging curriculum
The need to travel to a GEP centre
The child's preference to remain with current classmates
Family's overall assessment of what best suits their child's learning needs
The decision to decline will not affect the child's education in the mainstream programme, and they can continue in their current school.
