Why is there a need for a hanyu pinyin name to be reflected on my PSLE certificate?
A student with a name containing Chinese characters will have a Hanyu Pinyin name included with his/her personal particulars by default. The student's personal particulars are stored in a database under the Ministry of Education (MOE), and mainstream schools (i.e. primary schools, secondary schools and junior colleges) will access this database when carrying out their administrative processes. You may approach your school if you would prefer to remove your Hanyu Pinyin name. Once this has been carried out, your Hanyu Pinyin name will no longer be reflected in the result slips and certificates that are released to you, and reference will be taken to your updated particulars for all future national examinations that you take in Secondary school or Junior College.
