What happens if the deceased did not leave a valid will?

When someone dies "intestate" (without a will), the estate is distributed according to statutory rules. For non-Muslims, the Intestate Succession Act dictates the priority and shares of beneficiaries. For Muslims, the Administration of Muslim Law Act and Syariah Law apply. Please refer to https://www.judiciary.gov.sg/family/apply-for-letters-of-administration for more information.
