How Myinfo retrieves your name information

Every digital service retrieves name information through Myinfo differently, depending on what each service requires and how their systems are configured. Some services may be able to access only your principal name, which may not always match the exact full name printed on your NRIC, FIN card, or Digital IC.

Why is my full name not retrieved by Myinfo?

Your full name may not appear exactly as shown on your NRIC or Digital IC when using Myinfo.

Myinfo provides multiple name fields (e.g. name, alias, married name). Each digital service (e.g. website or app) decides which name fields to retrieve based on its own requirements.

As a result, some services may only retrieve your principal name, which may not exactly match the full name printed on your NRIC, FIN card, or Digital IC.

Understanding your full name components

Depending on your official records, your full name may include a combination of the following:

  • Principal Name

  • Hanyu Pinyin Name

  • Alias Name

  • Hanyu Pinyin Alias Name

  • Married Name (Optional: Available only for females and prefixed with "MRS")

Examples of how your name may appear:

  • If you have all name records: JOEY CHAN HSIAO AN (CHAN XIAO AN) @ JOEY CHAN (CHEN XIAO AN) MRS CHAN

  • If you only have a Principal and Hanyu Pinyin Name: JOEY CHAN HSIAO AN (CHAN XIAO AN)

Note: Your full name may be displayed across multiple lines on your physical NRIC/FIN card or your Digital IC.
