When do I need to apply for the oversized vehicle movement (OVM) permit?

The OVM permit is required for vehicles exceeding width, length or weight requirements.

The width and length requirements (i.e. oversized) are as follows:

Overall width of more than 3.0 metres (or more than 2.6 metres when travelling on controlled roads); or
Rear overhang of load of 1.8 metres or 40% of the vehicle length, whichever is lesser.

The weight requirements (i.e. overweight) for the respective vehicles are as follows:

The application must be submitted at least 3 working days before the intended date of travel. Applications submitted after noon (i.e. 12 p.m.) will be deemed as applications submitted for the next working day.
