Are former MOE trained teachers eligible for the CONNECT Plan upon re-appointment to service?
Re-appointed Education Officers (EOs) are initially offered a Local General Contract for 2-3 years. Based on their performance, conduct and organisational requirements, they may be considered for emplacement on permanent establishment before their contract ends, contract renewal or contract lapse. Only after being emplaced to permanent establishment, you will be put back on the CONNECT Plan.
They will restart their CONNECT Plan account with zero balance and will be placed back onto the CONNECT Plan from the CONNECT Year they had left the Education Service. For instance, an officer who resigned at CONNECT Year 8 would be placed back onto the CONNECT Plan at CONNECT Year 9 on 1st January of the year following re-appointment. The CONNECT deposits that were forfeited at the point of resignation will not be returned.
