The Workfare Training Support (WTS) was introduced in 2010 to encourage low-wage Singapore Citizens (35 years and above) to upgrade their skills through training so that they can improve their employability. Administered by Workforce Singapore (WSG), WTS was enhanced in 2013 to cover Academic CET courses such as ITE part-time ITE Skills Certificate, Nitec, Higher Nitec, Polytechnic part-time Diplomas, Advanced Diploma, Specialist Diploma and post-Diploma courses are now eligible, in addition to the training courses offered under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) system, including Employability Skills (ES) training courses. Modular courses at the polytechnics and ITE are also eligible for WTS.
