Why are fees increases for Permanent Residents (PR) and International Students (IS) in our Institute of Technical Education (ITE) steeper than those of the polytechnics and Autonomous Universities (AUs)?
For polytechnics and Autonomous Universities (AUs), there is the Tuition Grant Scheme, which requires graduates who are PR or IS to fulfill a service obligation by working in Singapore-based companies for 3 years upon graduation. As ITE does not have this scheme, it is necessary to differentiate the PR and IS fees more sharply.
