I have just completed a part-time Nitec / Higher Nitec. Why do I need to go through a bridging programme before enrolling in part-time diploma programmes at the polytechnics?

ITE's part-time Nitec and Higher Nitec programmes were trimmed from 8 core modules of corresponding pre-employment training (PET) courses to comprise 5-6 modules. As a result, working adults can complete a part-time Nitec or Higher Nitec within a shorter time of about 720 hours (compared to about 1,000 hours in the previous framework).

The bridging programme of up to 180 hours is to ensure ITE graduates who go on to take a polytechnic part-time diploma have sufficient academic foundation to cope with their diploma studies despite attending a shorter part-time NITEC or Higher NITEC.

The total course duration of the bridging programme and a part-time Nitec or Higher Nitec in the revised framework would not exceed the duration of a part-time Nitec or Higher Nitec in the previous framework.
