The duration of modular courses differs, depending on the nature of the course and the IHL that is offering the course.

A part-time Nitec or Higher Nitec programme comprises five to six modules and can be completed in 2 1/2 to 3 years.

A polytechnic part-time Diploma programme can be completed in 2 1/2 years (or five semesters). Polytechnic post-diploma programmes, which are mostly part-time, can take between 8 months to 2 years to complete.

The part-time undergraduate degree programmes in NUS and NTU are conducted over 4 years. Part-time undergraduates in the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) generally take about 4 1/2 years to complete a basic degree, and 6 years for an honours degree.
